Abstract
Political-security participation of citizens plays a key role in strengthening social security and the stability of political systems. Given that various social, cultural, economic, and political factors can profoundly influence the level of political-security participation, this study aimed to identify and analyze the factors affecting the political-security participation of the people in Islamshahr. The research employed a mixed-methods approach (qualitative-quantitative). In the qualitative phase, a meta-synthesis method was used to analyze 43 articles (23 Persian and 20 English), where the selected articles and extracted elements were precisely identified. In the quantitative phase, the statistical population consisted of 448,101 individuals aged 18 to 85, of which 383 were selected using Cochran’s formula and cluster sampling. The content validity of the questionnaire, assessed via the CVR method, was 81.5%, and its reliability, measured by Cronbach’s alpha, was 96.3%. Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed that the factors influencing political-security participation fall into four distinct dimensions: cultural (education, social networks, sense of responsibility, relative deprivation), economic (financial benefits, financial status), political (political elites, political motivation, political trust, political environment), and social (law-abidingness, sense of power, social solidarity, social trust, security). The model test confirmed its good fit, highlighting the prominent role of cultural and social dimensions in enhancing citizens' political-security participation.
