The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of bioterrorism on the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a focus on biological threats. This quantitative research was conducted using a survey method. The required data was collected through a researcher-made questionnaire distributed to 96 purposefully selected experts in the fields of security and bioterrorism from the country's armed forces. In the quantitative section, data was gathered using the researcher-developed questionnaire, the validity of which was confirmed through formal evaluation (by judges), and its reliability was verified with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.73. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 27 software, encompassing both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate a correlation coefficient of -0.402 between the variables, suggesting a moderate inverse relationship between the independent variable (bioterrorism) and the dependent variable (national security). In other words, as bioterrorism increases, national security decreases. Approximately 15.8% of the variance in national security is explained by bioterrorism, indicating that the independent variable accounts for 15.8% of the impact on the dependent variable. Thus, it can be concluded that bioterrorism significantly affects national security. As an asymmetric threat, bioterrorism—characterized by low cost and high impact—can compromise various dimensions of Iran's national security, including public health, economy, environment, and social stability. Biological threats (whether natural, intentional, or accidental) require a multidisciplinary approach (encompassing security, medical, legal, and technological measures.
